Personalised Nutritional Therapy informed by Functional Medicine principles
Uncover the underlying drivers of your symptoms and find clarity through a whole person approach to health
True health isn't about quick fixes.
Living with chronic or complex health challenges can feel overwhelming, especially when symptoms span multiple body systems. As a registered Nutritional Therapist with additional training in advanced Functional Medicine, I have particular interests in gut health and autoimmunity. I work with individuals experiencing ongoing symptoms who seek a personalised whole-body approach to their health.
Together, we explore the underlying factors contributing to your symptoms, with particular attention to connections between the gut, immune system and other body systems. Using an evidence-based and individualised approach, I integrate nutrition, lifestyle and functional medicine strategies to support digestive function, reduce inflammatory load and improve energy levels.
Do any of these sound familiar?
Digestive issues such as bloating, IBS or food sensitivities
Autoimmune flare-ups and chronic inflammatory patterns
Persistent fatigue that isn't resolved by rest
Poor sleep quality despite good sleep habits
A range of symptoms that seem unrelated or unexplained
If you feel stuck in a cycle of chronic symptoms, a different approach may help. By exploring the deeper drivers of your symptoms, we can work towards a clearer understanding of your health and support you in moving forward.

About Me
I’m Nikki Paiba. I have a longstanding interest in health, with a medical degree and an NHS clinical background. Over time, I recognised that in some cases conventional approaches can have limitations when addressing complex chronic conditions, particularly those involving multiple interacting systems.
This led me to pursue formal training in Nutritional Therapy, informed by Functional Medicine principles, to deepen my understanding of root-cause drivers and personalised care. This enables me to recognise where these approaches can offer additional insights into complex health challenges and brings a comprehensive perspective to each consultation. Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine integrate alongside standard medical care, but do not replace it, so, where appropriate, I work collaboratively alongside other healthcare practitioners.

I hold a Master's degree in Nutritional Therapy (Distinction) and am certified in Advanced Functional Medicine with the highly respected Kharrazian Institute. I have also completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) course with the Institute of Functional Medicine. I have a particular interest in hypermobility syndromes (hEDS/HSD) and their complexities. My MSc research explored digestive symptoms in individuals with hypermobility syndromes and formed the basis of a peer-reviewed publication in the European Journal of Integrative Medicine: You can read it here.
To remain up to date with evolving science and best practice, I undertake regular continuing professional development. This includes advanced training in microbiome science, autoimmunity and EDS-ECHO modules. I am one of the first practitioners to complete the Microbiome Clinical Science Certificate programme through the Biome Learning Centre and have also completed training in micro-immunotherapy and nutrigenomics. In addition, I incorporate a neurodiversity-aware perspective in my practice, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all individuals.
I am registered with the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). Registration with these professional bodies requires adherence to high standards of practice and ethics. I am also a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine.

Principles of Functional Medicine

A functional medicine framework recognises the body as an interconnected whole, with nutrition and lifestyle forming the foundation of health. Rather than viewing symptoms in isolation, this model explores how the functions of different body systems, such as digestion, immunity, hormones and metabolism, may influence each other. This approach aims to identify and address underlying imbalances that may contribute to ongoing symptoms.
Where appropriate, additional functional testing may be considered to gain greater clarity. These tests are optional and can be used to complement standard medical investigations to explore underlying factors that may not have been previously identified.
Depending on your unique needs, there are a range of optional functional tests that can be considered:
Metagenomic Microbiome Stool Analysis
Advanced technology that assesses microbial composition and evaluates markers associated with digestion, gut barrier function and patterns linked to inflammation. Findings may help guide tailored nutrition and lifestyle strategies to support gut health and overall wellbeing.
Oral Microbiome Testing
Assesses microbial patterns within the oral cavity, which may be associated with patterns linked to systemic inflammation, as well as localised issues. Findings can help guide targeted nutrition and lifestyle strategies, as appropriate.
Immune Function Testing
Functional assessment of patterns of immune function and activity, which may contribute to a broader understanding of immune balance and resilience. Where appropriate, results can help guide personalised nutrition and lifestyle strategies, and may inform targeted supportive interventions, such as micro-immunotherapy, which aims to support immune regulation.
Cortisol Stress Profile Testing
Salivary sampling to evaluate cortisol patterns across the day. Findings may provide insights into factors associated with energy regulation, sleep-wake rhythms, and overall physiological balance. Results can help guide individualised nutrition, lifestyle and supportive strategies.
Any test findings are considered alongside your full health history and may contribute towards a more detailed understanding of the factors influencing your wellbeing. This enables a targeted plan to address the root causes of your symptoms through tailored nutrition, lifestyle and therapeutic support.
